Events going on for Christmas/New Years 2011?
We will stay in Charlotteville from December 22nd to January 5th - anyone know of any events/music gigs/exhibitions or other things going on these days, which would be worth not missing? In Charlotteville - or other places on Tobago as well of course

Lene,
Christmas / old years is typicalkly a quiet time in Tobago.
There will certainly be some boxing day and old years parties. Where ? This will be unclear until a few
days prior to the parties. You will have to inquire upon your arrival.
You will find those parties typically more in the south-western part of Tobago, where there is more
touristic activity.

Hi LeneMarie
Andy is correct that Christmas and New Years Eve parties is not common here in Tobago, that´s mostly exist into the families. You don´t find something similar with what we have in Norway and Sweden.
During Boxing day there use to be dancing parties, but that isn´t advertice much in forhead eighter, mostly because "all already know that here". It might be some in Castara as quite many from UK use to be there.
I´ve seen adds for such parties in mid-Tobago, it´s a disco party with a fee of 120TTD per person (if I remember right), but they are not in the Castara area, I can get the info if wou would like to.
Bigger hotels in the South/SouthWest use to have something and in Crown Point, Bon Accord, Canaan there´s some places, but few places which has a kind of parties. But as you stay in Charlotteville, you are too far away.
Don´t look at the map and say "it´s not so far if we have a car", the roads in the cuntry side are often very narrow, no lights, it therefore take time. When driving 50-60km/hours into some areas, that´s speeding!
And after all, does you come down for Party or Vacation? You can wite me private via myTobago if you want, I´m in the south and I´m here until late April!

Hi Ronald & thank you for the answer! I was not asking for parties really - we are traveling with our 9 year old son so that is not in focus on our journey
more like music gigs, exhibitions and things like that. We are staying in Charlotteville for the two weeks but will travel around as well to see other parts of Tobago during our stay

Hi again
As you did get an answer regarding Castara, peoples from Canada, US & UK use to be into that area, so I believe they will have ideas for a christmas dinner there on a local restaurant.
BUT, the weather is a "little bit wet" now, the road on the Caribbean side between Charlotteville and Castara was blocked yesterday by landslide, so I hope the weather will calm down until you arrive.
But your son will for sure like the sea and the rainforrest. BIG different compared with our own forrest. It use to be mosquitos on-off, always there in the forrested areas, so if you have something at home, bring it with you.
And don't forget sun protection, 11 degree north is to compare with Central Africa. The sun is strong even if ther will be some clouds too.
