Safety areas

Post by Kasper N »

Hi Tobago fans,

We are going to Tobago in the start of may and would like to know if there is some places you definitely not should go if you want to stay safe? Does anybody know if the area around Rex Resorts is a safe place?

Hello Kaper

This is always such a difficult one to answer Let's be honest, sxxx happens everywhere - even in the so-called safest places.

The bottom line is that the Turtle Beach Resort is no better or worse than anywhere else on the island. In the last five weeks that I have been on the island, I have travelled around a lot and can only tell you that there are very few places I wouldn't go on my own (i.e. without a local guide) - Argyle Waterfall, Highlands Waterfall, King Peter's Bay beach, Back Bay beach (Mt.Irvine) being the only ones that come off the top of my head. I would have no hesitation about visiting any of these places in a party with at least one other guy.

The basic rule is 'common sense'. Isolated places can be risky, anywhere in the world, particularly after dark.
