Restaurant Update – Pasta Gallery/Art Café/Mot Mot Restauran

Eating out is an increasingly expensive business everywhere, particularly in Tobago. We were therefore delighted to find that the newly-opened Pasta Gallery in Crown Point was everything we had been told before our visit. Run by Fabrizio and Claire Ceppi of Tobago Now Tourism Services (better known for their excellent off-road safari tours), this attractive small restaurant is conveniently located in Pigeon Point Road (on the right, just 100m from the main road junction) this small café offers a variety of pasta-based dishes, both dine-in and take-away, at very reasonable prices. They haven’t got an alcohol licence yet, but patrons can bring their own beer or wine. Hopefully this slight inconvenience should be sorted soon. The restaurant is attractively and artistically decorated and offers a nice ambience, not least because Fab and Claire are so charming. Highly recommended!

I should also mention a change of ownership at the Art-Café on the Claude Noel Highway. This small internet café is located 150m before (towards Crown Point) and opposite the turning to Canoe Bay but beware; blink and you have driven past it. This café was previously owned and run by one Dorothee Hatzky . Over the two or three weeks following the café being first listed, the Art-Café was involved in a massive vote-rigging campaign in our Reader Satisfaction Rating (RSR) poll. So, it was not an establishment that we patronised ourselves. Well, I am delighted to say that Dorothee is no longer associated with the Art-Café, having sold it to Simba Garraway. Simba trained for 3 years in Austria and is a really good young chef. We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Art-Café and once again, it represented excellent value.

Finally, it was deeply sad to find that the Mot Mot Restaurant had closed in recent months. Located on the Auchenskeoch Road, not far from Buccoo Junction, this small unpretentious local restaurant has been one of our favourites for many years. How sad!

I visited the place last week and fully agree with Steve's statements about the quality of food.
I had lovely Tortellini Alfredo, nothing to improve on that dish.

The place still does not have an alcohol license yet, so be prepared and bring your own drinks.

Also, smokers beware, the proprietor does not allow guests to smoke, even on the uncovered outside porch.
Not a customer-friendly move at all, especially when there is nobody else around.
If i'll go back there, i will buy my food "to go" ...
