Overbooking shambles at Coco Reef

Post by David Bostock »

This is just a warning for anyone travelling from the UK who has booked accomodation at Coco Reef hotel. Their computer apparantly went down in December and when it came back up it didn't have all the bookings in it so when we arrived last week we were told at the airport that they didn't have a room for us despite me booking last September via Hays and Jarvis. The first 2 nights of my 7 night stay were spent in another hotel nowhere near as good as Coco Reef and I will be seeking compensation for them.
The reason for the post is it seemed to be happening to most people from most tour operators Virgin, Kuoni etc and there were some very unhappy people there the local agents were as much in the dark as we were and Coco Reef only informed them 2 hours before we landed.
I suggest you check with your tour operator that they phone the Coco Reef and confirm you will have a room ready when you arrive.

Just returned from Coco Reef on Sunday, and we experienced no problems with our booking. The hotel was fully booked, and we heard that some people were moved to other hotels for part of their stay.
However, to put peoples minds to rest, the persons being moved/relocated were in the minority!

We had a wonderful holiday at Coco Reef, all the staff were amazing, very attentive and very friendly. We were given an Ocean View room, as requested. No issues at all during check-in.

As David suggested, its best to check with your tour operator that Coco Reef have your booking and confirm your room is available for you - just to be on the safe side.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday at Coco Reef.
