We will be visiting Castara for our first time in Dec. and can only imagine from reading and seeing pics about this place that it is exactly where we would like to spend our vacations. This is so sad the these small island governments do what "they" think is going to make things "better". It is getting harder and harder to find places like this to vacation. This is our ideal setting we hate tourist traps and all inclusives. Was just sent this today. Please sign petition if you agree.

Keep Charlotteville Beautiful

The THA has plans to place a huge concrete building right along our idyllic fishing village's beachfront. The plans are so modern that the construction would be glass-fronted, be multi-storey & have air-conditioning instead of our lovely balmy sea breezes & natural beachfront.
As villagers living here, we have not been consulted on these plans - they have been thrust upon us - & all attempts to open discussions or debates have led to empty promises & meetings not kept - even though we have drawn up our own plans for enhancing the present shops & stores in a manner more in-keeping with our village at the end of a tiny Caribbean Island.... please visit Charlotteville Beachfront Movement on Facebook to see all plans & discussions..

I heard about this some time ago and i remember commenting on it
back then.
Again, i don't think any such thing is happening anytime soon, if at all,
because Tobago is close to regional parliament (THA) elections. The ruling
party PNM will do a damn thing to create public protest

Unfortunately these plans seem to be moving faster than the usual THA projects (think: the rush to complete Buccoo facility)... I suggest you take a look at Charlotteville Beach Front Movement's Facebook page.
