Found the problem - it wasn't your forum account; I was still using your old btinternet address in the mod that sends notification of all weather posts to you. All sorted!

I'm good, thanks. You can delete these posts when you like. :)

Last night was quite nasty with heavy rain for some hours, lightning and thunder.
It cleared up nicely since this morning and right now (Monday afternoon) it is sunny and mostly
dry.

I think the rain has passed now Andy.

Here in the UK it is still raining since it started on Sunday and we are entering the 3rd day of non-stop rain.

So far 4 inches has fallen widely with more in some areas.

There have been floods here and there, some roads blocked, trains stopped and (so far) 300 homes flooded ... but it is NEWS HEADLINES.

But ... you need to put this in perspective ... remember November 2004 when Tobago took nearly 17 inches of rain in 18 hours. There were sadly some fatalities and it was very shortly after the bloodied nose from Hurricane Ivan, but Tobago handled it very well.

And the UK thinks it has problems and the debates go on ... smile

Long live Tobago.

Yes Paul,

i clearly remember November 2004 and November 1999, when the road between L'Anse Fourmi and Charlotteville
came down as well as parts of my property on Summer Hill landed on the road below and i had to build an additional
retaining wall. You saw the pictures of Diego Martin, Trinidad, recently, where 2 peope perished under their collapsed
houses. We are not out of the woods, the season is not over. I am just glad that we don't get SO much rain right now,
so we have a good chance that the flooding may not be as heavy in case we get plenty rain in November again.
Life in the tropics ... enjoying the sunny hot weather on the roof top of the new financial complex in Scarborough these days.
One has to be greatful when installation work outside doesn't get interrupted by rain
Visitors though certainly had a great day at the beach. :)

The weaher in Trinidad in October has been behaving reasonably so far.
Partly cloudy, isolated showers and temperatures by 32 have been the standard within
the last week.

Weather in Trinidad yesterday and today was / is only moderately affected by TS Raphael, which is presently moving
through the northern part of the lesser antilles.
Whereas there was heavy rain, thunder and lightning in centrakl and south Trinidad, the northern part
was mostly not affected except for a few brief light showers.
Today it is overcast but mostly dry.

Yes Andy

It appears that Tobago had more of the rain.

It is still raining but easing now as Raphael pulls the main rainbands away to the north. Less intense rainfall could continue for a couple of more days though.

Trinidad had some good rain and overcast, quite cool conditions yesterday from around noon.
It was one of those few "stay indoors" sundays. Today the weather has improved significantly
and temperatures are back to normal.

It seems to have cleared up nicely for Trinidad & Tobago and for most of the south east Caribbean.

Raphael is well away up near Bermuda.

Partly cloudy and sunny today in Scarborough.
And as we say here: "Heat in de place".
Better stay in the shade with a cold drink in your hand.

This afternoon it is mostly cloudy with some showers.
A welcome break from the hot and steamy conditions during the last few days.

Morning to Tobago. I'll be visiting your wonderful island on Satuday. I know from my research that it is the rainy season and the forecast shows rain everyday. Wht I'm curious about is the rain pattern through the day. All rain all day, or is there a break in the morning. Regardless I the weather we are looking forward to slowing down and taking it easy in Castara.

Hi Lorna

We are just getting across to the dry season.

Typically, the rain falls at night and particularly in the early hours up to sunrise and during the day you get a few short sharp showers. Some days it may never rain at all and on other days it can be quite wet ... there is little pattern to this.

For a 2 week visit you would typically expect sunny days and 1 or 2 wet days and most rain falling at night ... Tobago's rainforest generates most of the rain as the trades blow across the island and any moisture rises over the hills and picks up more moisture from the rainforest ... clouds form and rain falls.

Castara is fairly well sheltered from most of the showers but when they come, get in the warm sea and feel the cold rain on your shoulders ... it's wonderful.

Enjoy your stay.

Hi - I have just joined the forum and think it is really informative. We are first timers to Tobago in 2 weeks and really looking forward to it - I am used to hot weather in the 40's and a wee bit nervous about feeling chilly - have you any updates as to the November weather so far? :D
