LOL ... 40 degrees? You must be a regular to the Costa's in August where there is dry heat but it is often quite shocking to dip your toe in the sea water.

The temperature in Tobago is about 30 celcius on average ... a little higher than this during the wet season and a little lower during the dry season when the trade winds are a little fresher. At night it rarely drops below 24C. The sea temperature is between 25c and 30C so it sometimes feels warm in the sea first thing in the morning.

This may disappoint you but the humidity will make up for it

thanks for prompt response , never been to the Costas - Africa my patch - which is disturbing since originally from Scotland but now a soft Southerner in Dorset! Glad sea temp good and not too cold in the evenings - staying at The Toucan so cant wait

There were some showers overnight and into this morning (our time ... which means it was sleep time in Tobago, although I guess sleep can be at anytime ).

The weather is looking good for you ... nice dry season stuff has come early.

As usual Paul is correct!!
We're near Studley Park and have had some hard rain, but only a few showers during the day. Monday night was a real blaster and Tuesday evening not much better....but went to the beach just fine Tuesday daytime; not a drop.
Every time we think dry season is really here; it's starts raining...the trees seem very confused. This is one of the driest Nov I've seen in a long time.

We arrived yesterday. Hot, sunny, dry. It rained quite heavily last night. Today not a drop. We spend an excellent day on the beach.

Lovely sunny day Thursday, Friday, then overnight a shower, sunny morning on Saturday then from 15:00 (at Pigeon Point) a very heavy shower, then another then another. Raining most of the evening in Plymouth now raining in Scarborough (22:00).

Hi All,
Are the November monsoons arriving late this year.....ridiculous amount of rain today. This past Saturday and Sunday not much better; friends in Bethel said the rain was heavy there too. A reprieve on Monday...some rogue clouds dumping the typical 2 minute shower and then it's dry. I would guess the present storm is all over or fairly wide spread. Big black rain clouds over Ft Gamby and the same out the view to the South, what I can see through the rain streaming down the windows.

Heavy rain most of the day in Castara - except an hour or so of sun in the morning. 17:30 and it's still cats and dogs as the sun goes down.

All say hello and wonder when you are coming down. Sounds like you're having a wicked storm in San Fran. Yes, Tobago would be better at least it's warm. Got another soaking most of yesterday...wave after wave; looking like more today.
Hope we might see you early in 2013.

Hmmm ... I overlooked this.

Ancle from the Naturalist Beach Resort messaged me yesterday about 5 metre waves on Castara Beach ... some damage to the Almond Tree Cafe and the Cascreole (I thought he was joking!).

It seems that the deep low in the mid Altantic and the High building over the Caribbean have combined to funnel alot of energy southwards across most of the eastern Caribbean with strong winds and big waves.

One fatality reported in Barbados and one hopes that everywhere else is OK with not too much damage.

But there seem to have been some significant impacts along the Caribbean coast of Tobago.

Hot and dry with strong trade winds... there is not much else to report.
The grass in the yard starts to get brown, cutting and burning bush has to be
postponed to avoid huge dust clouds and bush fires.
The odd showers, mostly only for a few seconds at night, don't bring any relief and
seconds after it is dry again as if nothing ever happened.
In other words, a dry season how it is supposed to be.

Well yesterday afternoon and evening, and already this morning, we have had some heavy rain showers! ( in Castara )
The football match was delayed and the stage construction for the Tobago 'Jazz' Festival concert on the Castara beach tomorrow was also delayed as all the guys building it ran for cover.....
Apparently the south was unaffected but we have had a decent set of showers which has made the ground damp enough to allow it to absorb the water which is great for the plants and will help top up the aquifer which supplies the water to all of us.! Plants already picking up. Reports of a landslip on the forest road across to Roxborough but then it is the rainforest...............It also reduces the chances of forest fires of which we have had a couple as controlled (?) burn offs got out of control.
In between the showers the sun comes out so life here in Paradise continues as usual.

It's a good sign to me for my arrival mid-June ... 16 days to go

It is still raining in Tobago ... quite rare for 4/5 days of rain.

Experienced my first Tropical Wave yesterday.

During the afternoon the clouds gathered and brought a very squally downpour - I was in Bagos Bar and the rain almost came down horizontally ... it was a good opportunity to wash my hands in the run-off from the roof as Bagos toilets are pretty awful ... good food though!!

This wave changed the weather and brought more humidity and today it has rained constantly.

The rain should move away tomorrow and another Tropical Wave is due for the weekend.
