Tourism

Post by Paul Tallet »

I am well aware of the 'head in the sand' approach towards Tourism 'by the powers that be' in Tobago ... so I wonder if anyone has any comments to make about this ...?

All this local political infighting is very sad and adding another new organisation would, in theory, dilute any lobbying powers against the governments of T&T to get things done to aid tourism. However, having been a member of the THTA for several years (now ex member) and having seen the effect their "lobbying" has had on matters concerned with tourism, I think it unlikely anyone will notice much difference :(

Glyn is spot on.

Given the tiny size of the market, having two such organisations is something of a joke and sadly illustrates why tourism on Tobago is in the sad state it is. There are some very well-meaning experienced business owners/managers in both organisations and no shortage of ideas and the commitment to see them through. Sadly, small-island racist politics are likely to mean that this new organisation has little more success than the old one.

Oh well ... on the positive side, it's suits me.

Tobago has little else to offer other than tourism ... if they did somehow get their act together I reckon the whole of Tobago would be turned into a Theme Park. We would not want that would we.
