Fundraising greeting cards

Post by Brent »

Hi all

I'm a British professional photographer living in Tobago in a unique position to help local non government organisations raise desperately needed funds to continue their important roles in local education and positive actions towards saving Buccoo reef, Leather back Turtles and reduction of natural habitat loss.

I would dearly like to be able to make greeting cards available in the U.K. where profits can go to these worthy works, however I'm having some difficulty sourcing a U.K. based printer that can offer the following :
Full colour printing on recycled paper. Online ordering. printing to order, and U.K. distribution.

I have checked the obvious sites such as photobox and find such services unsuitable for various reasons, not least of all, value for money. I am open to any suggestions that you may have.

Hi Brent

If anyone knows of any good commercial sources that would be useful to Brent, may I please urge them to support his cause.

Brent has been a long and unstinting supporter of myTobago. I have a large collection of his photographs that will eventually be used to illustrate the site (in fact many are already used in articles like our bird watching guide). Brent’s primary area of interest and expertise is the flora, fauna and birdlife of Tobago and he cares passionately for the island. I can vouch for his integrity and know that he genuinely wishes to help the organisations mentioned.

hi brent
where in tobago do you sell your cards? know plenty people who are not too exited about the cards they can buy here. guess most touristes would love to spend a dollar more, help with it and get better cards than in most shops available! you sell more in the lowlands? if yes, lets change that!!!

Hi Brian

Thanks for the input. I would of course prefer to work with recycled or at least part recycled paper, the thought of trying to save our rain forest at the cost of some one else's forest nags me, but the recycling industry has not reached Trinidad & Tobago in any meaningful way yet.
Something I plan to change :)
The point you raise on the quality of souvenir products is an interesting one and is worth a forum post of it's own. It would be nice to have the reactions of those who do the souvenir/gift buying

Thanks again

I use a printer that stocks 100% recycled card and paper. No idea if he's the one for you but happy to pass his details on here (no fear about doing so privately, the details are available online!)...

Martin or Steve Rowland (I know Martin).

As I say, no idea if they "fit" what you are up to, but it's a start!

PS, if you need someone to take the finished goods out there... ;-)

Hi Marc
Thanks for the info. I've contacted evonprint and will wait on their reply.
I may need to take you up on the offer :)
Thanks again my friend

No problem. On re-reading I'm not sure they do all you need, but if no-one can then a decent reliable friendly printer is one step.

If they don't get back to you feel free to squeeze them via me! I know Martin very well indeed.
