Honeymoon May 2004 @ Toucan Inn

Post by Joe King »

Well we are back after our first trip to Tobago. While in Tobago we stayed at the Toucan Inn. I have given the establishment a rating of Magnificent in the satisfaction poll and if their had been a higher rating I would probably have used it!!

The hotel is a gem, from the moment we checked in and met Christine on the desk, to the moment we were leaving and saying our goodbye's to Avelon and Shelly in the bar we were always made to feel at home in Toucan inn.

The accomodation is Basic, but the bed is very comfy, the air conditioning is very effective (if a bit loud) and the shower is wonderfully powerfull and always warm. Because we were on honeymoon the main aim of our holiday was relaxation and that is what we did around the wonderfull pool 13 out of 14 days. There were days when we had the pool to ourselves and there were days when we had to share with some other extremely friendly couples etc but all in all it was exceptional.

The Breakfasts were devine, either pancakes, full fry, fruit platter or the daily special. Lunch is a must if you are in the area and peckish. From the sandwiches up to the fish and chips, and the burger(our favourite) and chips the lunches are fantastic and very reasonably priced. Our first experience of dinner in Bonkers wasn't great, slow service and not the best meal ever. But we gave them a 2nd and 3rd chance based on reviews I had seen here previously and they improved vastly. Our only qualm was that there menu is not very extensive.

All in all the toucan inn is a fantastic spot, perfect for the traveler who just wants a nice relaxing holiday in a nice quite spot. Even its proximity to the airport isn't a factor, as Steve said in a previous post there is only about one large jet landing every day and some days there are none. There is work currently ongoing at the airport but again you hear nothing af this from the Toucan Inn.

Hi Joe
Glad you had a good time. We tried to guess who you were but obviously didn't do very well. We had a fantastice time at the Toucan (just got back Fri Am). Loved the hotel, the staff, the breakfasts and especially the cocktails! On Troy's recommendation we swam first thing every morning - a great way to get our day started. I guess the star rating is due to facilites and not for quality because the whole place was fab. I loved the walk through bathroom, in fact I loved everything about it!
Highly recommended.
