Denise,

Just returned from two weeks at the Grafton. Can only say that it was excellent. We had excellent service from the staff. However, we did do as Peter said and get to know them and be friendly. We did not have any problems whilst we were there. If you go on the beach get to know the traders who have stalls along there. Nelson and Oakley along with Scottie. If you make friends with them you will find that they are some of the most genuine people you will meet. And if they offer to do a beach Bar-B-Q don't pass it up. We had a great time with them on Saturday night.

Some of the decor is becoming tired at the hotel and there were some problems with hot water in some of the rooms, not ours, which did annoy some guests. However, put all of the surface detail aside and just chill out. You won't regret it. And do visit Sunday School!!!

Have a great time.

Hello Denise

It's a little late for you now, but I thought I better just add a postscript to this thread. The Grafton have just advised me that kettles ARE NOT available from the Front Desk. There is a Tea Station in the main lounge.

Hi Steve

Thanks for the reply. Very glad we didn't get it before we went as I was able to ask without any prior knowledge. The restaurant staff happily provided us with one and we just collected clean cups etc each evening so I could have my early morning fix without leaving the bed (men have their uses!).
We had a great time, I could understand previous comments about the hotel being a bit tired etc but for a family holiday it was ideal and the staff could not have been more helpful. I must admit I took on board previous comments and made sure we met them halfway and it certainly worked. Everyone was really kind and all the Tobagans we met certainly went out of their way to ensure we had a good time and wanted for nothing. Phrase of the holiday seemed to be "Respect for the Mother!", despite making me feel about 101 this seemed to be true. I cannot recommend Tobago too highly, perfect for a relaxing time and lots of "finding Nemo" moments with our snorkels.
Thanks to all for their advice, guidance.
Denise :P
