Excel Baggage Allowance?????

Can Anyone confirm what the baggage allowance is on Excel flights, all the info on this site seems to point to 40Kgs, but on my tickets , we go in 12 days, says 20Kgs

Got this direct from the Excel website.

Cabin baggage

Only one piece of hand baggage per passenger will be permitted in the cabin.
This item should weigh no more than 5 kilos with the total dimensions of 115 cms (45 inches), and should include no sharp items.
It must be able to fit under the seat or in the overhead locker.
In addition to the above, each passenger is allowed to take one normal sized carrier bag, containing duty free goods.

Hold baggage

The weight of the baggage permitted for carriage in the hold of the aircraft, is normally 20 kilos per passenger. However this may differ with flights to certain tour operators/destinations.
The baggage allowance on flights to the Caribbean is 40kgs per passenger. Carriage of excess baggage will be undertaken subject to space and availability on the day, a charge will be made. Departures ex UK; short-haul £4 per kg, long-haul £8 per kg, Gambia and Egypt £6 per kg. A charge 6 Euros per kg will also be made from the following overseas airports; Arrecife, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Malaga, Alicante, Malta. MAXIMUM PIECE WEIGHT. Health and Safety regulations require us to limit the maximum weight per single item of baggage to 32kgs. Individual items or bags exceeding 32kgs cannot be accepted for carriage and passengers will be required to repack their luggage. This does not affect the baggage allowance.

BTW - they are quite hot on the maximum weight per item. A few people had to start opening cases and shifting luggage around because of it.

Hi Ralf

I'm sure I remember a very similar post to your own in this forum, back earlier this year. Was your ticket issued by Tropical Places by any chance? I remember I checked with Golden Caribbean, who assured me that these the allowance is 40kg p/p and that the traveller can safely ignore the information printed on the tickets - which are almost certainly issued by the tour operator, not Golden Caribbean/Excel.

Thanks for your reply, Jill - but don't rely too heavily on information on the Excel Airways website. The Tobago service is a charter service, so it does not form part of Excel's normal operation. In fact, they don't even own the aircraft - they simply lease it from an operation in Iceland and provide the staff to man it.

Steve, the tickets were issued by Hayes & Jarvis. Do you think I will be ok to work on the 40 Kg figure ?

The problem is I am taking some Diving gear , which as you can imagine pushes up the weight.

Hi Ralf

Go by what Golden Caribbean say - not Hayes & Jarvis. They are the flight operators. The official response to this question was:

No, there has not been a change - it is definitely 40 kgs. Maybe they got their tickets from another Tour Operator who issues their own tickets and they have got it wrong. Our system is definitely loaded to 40 kgs.

So, pack away...

We went Hayes and Jarvis. Luggage allowace is 40kg each which is a lot unless junior is under 2 and no allowance and you have 15kg of food and a car seat and travel cot and .....
We were just over our 80k's but no extra charge.
