Rental car group

We have been looking for affordable and reliable car hire company's and have come across the Rental Car Group-Tobago. Has anyone used this company or heard anything about it?
They seem really cheap compared to other companies, but are worried that this might not be a good thing!!

Hi Louise

As far as I know, or have been able to check, this is not a genuine company operating on Tobago, but one of those listing companies that simply act as booking agents for local rental services. The first thing to do is to contact them and ask them for the name of the Tobago agency that will actually supply the car. Then you can research that company in the forum. Also, check out our Car Hire article in the Tobago/Getting Around/ menu. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

We used this agent to research the prices on the Web, and found that the car they quoted was offered through Sherman's. We worked directly with Sherman's, have done so twice, and their service and vehicles are excellent. They gave us a free upgrade this year to a brand new Mitsubishi Gallant because they had over-booked their Sentras. The car was so nice, in fact, that I was afraid to drive it for fear of getting a ding! Three years ago we rented an older model manual jeep and while, cosmetically, it was a bit warn, it was in great mechanical shape. The auto jeeps are newer models. Sherman's prices are very competitive and they brought the vehicle right to our hotel.

I haven't used them personally, but Sherman's are on the Yes Tourism list of approved car rental firms and that's good enough for me. Yes, it's normal for any of the rental agencies on Tobago to deliver the car to your hotel/apartment/villa.

Thanks for the advice regarding car rental. Shermans sounds very good and we would like to speak to them about car hire. Does anyone have a contact number, web/email address?

I don't have a note of it but you could either do a Google on the name or contact them via [email protected] who are agents for Shermans.
