Hi, how easy is it to visit other Caribbean islands from Tobago? What is the best airline to use?

I have travelled to Barbados approx gbp 78.00 , Grenada approx gbp 59.00 and Trinidad gbp 20.00 all flights were direct. I booked all of my flights at the ticket shop over the road from the check in desks at the airport.Really easy to book and it dosent take long to fly to destinations.
Next time I will going to Jamaica.

When did you fly to other islands and who was it with - Liat? I received info from LIAT that a flight would be approximately 200USD.

Am interested in flying to Grenada for the day and/or maybe Barbados. Grateful for any more info you have.

You can go on an exciting day trip to Union Island by Cessna.

Spend the day on a schooner sailing around Tobago Cays; Palm Island etc.

Very relaxing but can be a bit of an ordeal for those that suffer travel sickness on windy days.

Bit pricey but a small party would get the costs down ... contact YesTourism if of interest.

Another option that I tried a few years ago is to book a flight via Barbados ... I did Virgin and then LIAT between Barby and Toby ... upshot was that we had a great afternoon on Crane Beach, Barbados on the way home.

I would personally like to take a trip to Trinidad to explore the Northern Coastline but have been advised that it is too dangerous.

Another option that I am looking at (subject to funding) is a trip to Antigua for next year for a few days. You can see Monserrat from the south west of Antigua and they do helicopter tours to Monserrat to see the volcano ... also you can go on tours to see dolphins and rays ... the costs compare very favourably compared to chartering a yacht for a few days.

Go to Trinidad! We were there in June, and it's beautiful. The people were very friendly, and we didn't have any trouble. I don't understand what the "danger" is. We were more cautious in Trinidad than we were in Tobago, but even our time in Port of Spain was incident-free. I'm beginning to think the dangers of Trinidad are a myth being perpetuated by people who want to keep the tourists out. We had never been to the Caribbean, and we loved both Tobago and Trinidad.

GO TO TRINIDAD and don't worry! as mentioned before, take a guide! most things that happen in trinidad are locals taken hostage and robberies of shops. local against local. but still with a guide you'll feel more safe and go to the better areas wich are beautiful.
for the first trip I would say: SEE TOBAGO FIRST! there is so much to see, why go for next places so soon. look at steve, he still explores our tiny island and still finds new things every time....
for me it would be enough "holiday stress" to try to expore tobago in one visit (therefor never tried... )
but if you gotta go, why not take the shortest flight and stay in the republik....?
if you find out about jamaica, let me know...thinking about a little nostalgic trip...back to old negril to see what is left...

anyway: ENJOY and TAKE IT EASY and RELAX!!!!

Well if there are any offers from anyone prepared to give me and the family a tour of Trinidad's North Coast, please come forward if you know that area well.

Many of those I have asked so far have said that you need an armed guide because the North coast is very remote and a haven for smugglers and there is a good chance that you can be caught in the wrong place at the right/wrong time.

I have read about this part of Trinidad and the long walks along the beautiful coastline and although I would love to go and explore (and I will one day) I have to consider the advice of the writers and those that advise me while I have children with me.

I am also advised the beaches are dangerous in places and for that reason, alone, I would always take a guide.

I have to check it out myself. she is a lady from switzerland, in tobago since 9 years and having local guides for the tours, specialised on what they do..like forest, mountainbiking, kayaking, bird watching...

Paul,

Don't be put off a visit to Trinidad. There are some dodgy areas in Port-of-Spain just as there are dodgy areas in any major town. My wife and I visited last year and we never felt threatened at any time. The north coast is beautiful. If you get a chance stay a night at Grand Riviere - back to nature.

would not go to grenada this time, would you?! they are really down. having it on the news every day here, about the devastation but also about the programs that are on to help out with food and labour....
hope they are getting back on track as soon as possible, but it will take years.
keep the lovely memories....
