My husband and I are off to Tobago in 2 weeks, staying at CoCo Reef cant wait. Plan to take some cash and credit cards.
With the strength of the pound compared to the US dollar am I better taking sterling or dollars!

Hi Fiona

Welcome aboard!

This is one of the most often-asked quesitons in the forum and the answer is always the same: It makes little sense to convert to a third currency. The currency of T&T is the the TT$. Yes, local businesses will often accept payment in US$, but they will convert it to local currency at a rate of around TT$6=US$1 - far less than you can get at the bank. So, you will pay to convert £ to US$ and then an even higher rate to convert US$ to TT$. Stick with sterling.

We took £100 converted to TT$ for arrival and credit cards. VERY easy to use them not only in most of the restaurants but there are also lots of (in Crown Point at least) cash machines you can use them in.
