I was just wondering what the weather is likely to be like in Tobago in October.
We fly out there on the 6th October and all the weather reports I come accross seem to be saying its rainy and stormy!!?? Surely the island sees some sunshine? Im really worried that my 2 weeks are going to be a total "wash out".
Can anyone reassure me that im going to have some nice weather???
Please help as im really panicking about it and dont know what to pack.
Yes, there will be around 17.3% cloud cover on the day your arrive, with a temperature of 30.3°C. There will have been 9½ minutes of rain at 13:46 hrs and a further 14 minutes forecast for later than night - probably at 05.11am.
I'm only teasing of course.
Seriously though, how can ANYONE forecast the weather for October? I can only suggest that you study our Weather page and the comments in this forum and then accept that you're taking considerably less risk than if you were holidaying in the UK.

Hi Carla
We just got back fron our first trip to the tropics let a lone Tobago. Take the lightest, coolest clothes you have. I found loose, thin cotten clothes the coolest. Take loads of swim wear, unless you like putting on damp stuff. A couple of sarongs are useful too. You may need one warmer top for the plane trip.
We took a couple of small bag size umbrellas and they were useful if were caught in a rain shower when out and about.
It is always hot or warm, even when it's raining. Apart from a lot of continuous downpours when Ivan was close to Tobago, most of the time we maybe had a couple of showers a day and they were never a problem. Infact the occassional cloud cover gives some relief from the sun. Swiming in the Caribbean in the rain is one experience I'll never forget.
My husband and I are going to Tobago on September 30 and are concerned about the weather also. The replies have made me feel much better. I don't think a little rain will spoil our trip.
Thanks for all your reassurance guys. Im probably panacking over nothing but you can probably understand that being a woman I do have a tendency to do that!
I went to Tobago in October last year and the weather was great, we did have a little rain but it certainly didn't damper our holiday!! We are also going back on 2nd October (2 weeks saturday - Yipeeeeee )
Just a quick note to say that my partner and i returned from Tobago in July,it was a fantastic holiday and we are going back in May 05.
The weather was very hot and dry for the first few days, then had a couple of unsettled ones but to be honest it was a welcome relief from the intense heat, the experience of swimming in the Nylon Pool in the (warm) pouring rain will stay with me forever,it really was fantastic!
As you typed your message I was working on weather forecasts. I've installed a direct feed with a weather service in the USA. There will be a little box in a sidebar on every page of the new myTobago site, showing the current weather in Canaan, Tobago - updated every 30 minutes. I can tell you that at this moment it is showing partly cloudy and 26°C/79°F with no wind!!!.
We shall also feature our own 5-day forecast on our main Weather page. At this moment it's showing sunny and clear for today and tomorrow, but showers for the next three days. Mind you, first thing this morning it was showing showers for the full five days.
Remember, it is the rainy season, so these forecasts are quite accurate (can't go wrong?) when they forecast showers. However, that doesn't tell the full story of course. Even if there's two 3-minutes showers during the day, the forecast has got to say showers, I guess. What it doesn't say is that there's then eight hours of sunshine between those showers.
Also beware of "current" weather conditions. Remember, here in the UK we are currently 5 hours behind Tobago. So, if you looked at the current conditions (as above) now, you are looking at the weather as at 8am in Tobago. Now, it is a characteristic of Tobago that the mornings start cloudy with showers. As the sun rises, so it burns the cloud off and by 9-10 am you've got brilliant clear skies normally. So, don't look at the forecast in the morning. You will get a far better idea of current conditions looking at it in the mid-late afternoon or evening.

Just returned from Le Grand Courlan in the South West of Tobago yesterday.
We to were worried about the weather before we went out at the beginning of September, I can assure you the sun did shine and we both have very good tans to prove it, mid day temp was 96 degrees and apart from one day when Ivan decided to pop in, the sun shone for many hours every day with the odd white fluffy cloud floating past.
Other than Ivan, which lasted only a day, we only saw 2 prolonged showers of about 30 minutes each, we sat outside during both and everything quickly dried up once they had passed.
It was very warm and humid even in the evening with the temp dropping no lower than 80 degrees whilst we were there.
Take a small umbrella to protect from any downpours which come and go rather quickly and plenty of suncream you will need it guaranteed.
