Just got back from Coco Reef :)

Just spent a week in the resort - we stayed in a deluxe room with an ocean view. The first thing that struck us as we stepped off the plane was the heat - it was incredibly sticky and very humid! Be prepared.

We arrived at the hotel within half hour of landing. The room was typically "Caribbean" - perfectly good but nothing special. The airconditioning was a god send however.

The resort was nice, but again nothing special - the weather was excellent, 30+ degrees everyday and the swimming/sun bathing was exceptional.

One point of curiosity, the restaurant staff were all "programmed" to respond in a very monotone way - almost like they were robots - very bizarre! They were very efficient mind you, just not overly friendly, could have been us though.

All in all had a good holiday - it was very relaxing and we did what we set out to do. If we had to rate the place out of 10 we'd give it 7. Its a lovely place but it lacks that "x-factor".

Hi Fiona
Having read your report it sounds like you weren't overly impressed!
I am going to Coco-Reef in Feb for a three week stay, and chose this place because it is supposed to be the best on the island.
I was looking for a good, classy but comfortable place with a nice friendly atmosphere (not stuffy!)
I don't plan on spending ALL my time at the hotel however as we are there for so long. I also plan to get out and about to see all the island has to offer.
Your comments give me the impression it is all a bit plastic - if you know what I mean? By no 'x-factor' do you mean no atmosphere?
Hope I am gonna manage to break the ice with those members of staff - got plenty of time to do it! Sounds like they are just doing an excellent job!
Cheers

Hi Lesley,
Don't get me wrong it is a lovely resort and we had a lovely time. Most people we met were friendly as are the staff. They just seem to all talk in the same way. If we had been there for longer things probably would have been different. There is a bit of "preference" for regular customers, one couple in particular were not happy unless they sat at "their table for all meals".

By no X factor we mean its lacks that indivdual charm or atmosphere. Thats just our opinion we have stayed in a couple of excellent hotels eleswhere and I guess cant help comparing Coco Reef to them.

I am sure you will have a lovely time. Tobago is a lovely island.

Hi Fiona
I know exactly what you mean by comparing the place to others you have stayed in!
I am determined I am not going to compare Coco-Reef and Tobago with Barbados - where we usually go. I am aware that they are completely different islands and I now want to experience something else. I am just hoping Coco-reef is gonna be our cup of tea. Still, everyone is different, and if there is no atmosphere, we will just have to create one! Can't wait!
Thanks for your opinion Fiona.
