Tobago Map

Post by Cher »

Steve:

I would like to suggest having a Tobago map with all the places listed on your website, or at least most of them (the most loved). This may also be a way to fund your website. I am only in Tobago for one week in November and having read all posts, I want to visit everywhere, however, after doing my itinerary, I realised that I may end up being too busy if I choose to visit all the great places.

This map could be very useful, for example, after leaving my hotel in the morning, I could drive say the Atlantic route using your map, then at lunchtime or at dinnertime, whereever I am simply locate a restaurant of my choice (you may indicate on the map 5*, 4* etc) and simply stop along my route. I love great food and wine and romantic dining atmosphere (and I am sure most people do) and have decided to go to Pavillion, Kariwak, Tamaras, Seahorse, La Tartaruga and Cafe Coco, however, it was very difficult fitting all of these places for dinner, together with site seeing and some business all in one week! Your map can organize and plan a trip that can save time and yet have visitors see as much as possible. I hope I was clear in what I am trying to say. Just a thought though.....

Hi Cher

Great idea but buying the cartography licence would cost and arm and a leg. The good news, however, is that the 'new' mytobago, which will replace this site in a couple of months, makes use of a lot more in the way of location maps. We've been very lucky and managed to get a limited licence for web use from Borch GmbH in Germany who have the clearest cartography of Tobago I have seen. They provide the cartography for the Insight Fleximap range which includes Trinidad & Tobago.

Thanks, never thought about that. So I guess the only way you fund this website is by selling your CD?

We thank you again for this truly informative site, without it we would not have been able to put everything together for a limited stay, since Tobago is not one of the popular destinations from Toronto - actually I visited a travel agent here for information on Tobago and he tried to sell Jamaica instead! The Trinidad & Tobago Embassy was able to provide and direct me to most of information I needed, however, without reviews it's just not the same. If we are successful in our venture, we surely will not forget you.

I recall that on arrival at the airport and queuing through Passport control that there are abundant supplies of excellent maps in little pockets on the walls.

They are Free too.
