Getting Married 18th Nov 04 in Tobago

Counting the days down now before we fly to Tobago on Saturday to get married on the 18th November .
Although we are staying the Coco Reef, we have arranged our wedding with the fabulous Marie Dilworth and Brent & Christine Hart, our Minister & Photographer.

Location will be decided when we arrive, but we are getting married on one of the beaches with a steel band and barbeque after for 23 guests.
We are both so excited now and can't wait for this to happen.

Will also be arranging a days jeep hire before the big day with some friends to calm our nerves a bit and this site is fab for getting some great ideas on where to go.

Also want to see the rainforest and Argyle falls although still not sure if we should be using Patrick, Yes Tourism, Harris at Harris Jungle Tours or a guide called Newton !! Any feedback on who may be better for this kind of tour would be great.
Cocomotion also sounds great for speedboat experience as does Kallina Cats catamaran !! Also want to squeeze in Sunday School !
So much to see & do in between getting married, not sure how I'm going to fit it all in.

Will definately, let you know how the big day/holiday goes when we return, although with Marie at the helm, everything will be fine. Please keep your fingers crossed for a sunny day ! If anyone wants any feedback re getting married / CocoReef, etc let me know & will respond on our return.

Rainforest/Argyle falls tour. If you are just looking for a general tour then any of these guides will do. Yes Tourism give a highly professional service so best for all-round care. Harris McDonald is more about muscles and a nice line of chat, so good for entertainment. Newton George is the island's best bird watching guide and one of the very best natural history guides, so best for knowledge.

CocoMotion and Kalina are both great - depends on whether you want speed or sail, I guess.

Don't worry about the weather. Paul Tallet is organising some for you by special request.

I have been thinking about this and how to keep track of everyone going to Tobago at any particular time.

But here is an idea ...

I will look at the Message Boards every week and also anyone who wants a special forecast (or a mention) can post me a private message.

Meanwhile, I am sure Marie will be monitoring the weather forecasts so I will have one done on the 16/17th for you, Rob and Elaine ... look for the updates on LIQUID SUNSHINE.

Congratulations on your marriage. We too are hoping to go to Tobago and get married in January. We haven't booked anything yet, so any advice you can pass on will be a great help. How was your hotel? Was it a good idea to arrange with Marie all of your wedding plans. What location did you choose for your big day. The Blue Haven Hotel has been recommended to us, but we are open to suggestions. Is Tobago as beautiful as it looks in the brochures? Any info you can pass on to us will be appreciated. Congratulations again!

I don't know about weddings - but Tobago is even more beautiful than it looks in all the brochures! You'll love it - and in April 2005 we are going there to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary.

When we stayed at Grafton Beach on Stonehaven Bay a couple of years ago, there were 2 or 3 weddings on the beach - one organised through the hotel and 2 (I think) organised by someone else. It's a very attractive location anyway.

Whatever you choose for your special day - Tobago is a great place to do it!!

Sorry for the delay but trying to get back to reality after the wedding / honeymoon etc etc !!
Our wedding day was absolutely fantastic and couldn't have gone any better. The weather was great (thanks Paul !) and we had the best sunset that evening for the whole time we were there !.
We got married on Stonehaven Bay and although this is public beach we only had about 3 couples work past us during our ceremony/reception.
I'm so glad I used Marie Dilworth to arrange everything as she is the perfect person to make your dream wedding come true ! We got married at 2pm which gave us 4 hours on the beach before it got dark. This also fitted in nicely with the tides as we were concerned that if it was high tide, we would have no beach to get married on, but Marie sorted out the tide times for us so knew the best time to get married on this beach. We used Brent Hart as our minister and his wife Christine as our photographer. Both were lovely, professional and friendly and we got some stunning photos from Christine - all 181 of them ! They were so good we kept the lot !

Re Coco Reef: My husband & I had the most wonderful time at the Coco Reef and would definitely recommend it. We had a deluxe sea view room (no 241) which was very quiet away from the main reception areas but was west facing so we also got to see the sunsets from our balcony ! I'm not sure what the garden view rooms were like but we did overhear one couple mention about moving rooms from a garden view to a sea view, as the weren't happy with the room.
The food was fantastic, especially the a la carte Tamaras in the evening and if you like seafood, lobster & fish you will be able to have something different every day! Tamaras also had a seperate a la carte for vegetarian also but you would have to prebook this before 12noon for that evening. The beach area was lovely and I don't know why so many people moan about the breakwater. If it wasn't for this, the sea would probably be to rough to swim in, plus you get the added bonus of loads of fish for snorkelling round these rocks. And yes there really were sad people that had to get up at 7am just to put their towels on the beach loungers. I can honestly say I was not one of these people as we found that by getting on the beach late morning or afternoon, we still found loungers available either in the sun or shade. We did not use the pool at all mainly because there were 2 families taking over this area and the pool is very small. However we found the sea/beach to be an oversized pool as was very calm with no sudden drops as was very gradual. Yes. there were some families there, but we very rarely saw/noticed them and the clientele was 80% couples. The staff were lovely and we made great friends with Patrick & Zorro, 2 of the hotel's taxi drivers. Ask for either of these 2 if you want to go anywhere ! Overall I loved the hotel and wouldn't want to go anywhere else when I go back to Tobago. Phew ... so glad it all went well ... I was pretty anxious about the weather that day.

Wish I could go back, say, 19 years and get married in Tobago ... No. 20 next December so may do something special myself (with the wife of course!!).
