snorkeling + a room nearby ?

Post by Mike Mary »

Hi everybody,

we are looking for a nice place for snorkeling. Ideal combination would be: nice room close to an entry to a reef (walking distance, so that we could leave the room just with snorkeling equipment :!: ).
Hopefully no currents in the water - we aren't very good swimmers.
We are not looking for a 5 star hotel. We would prefer a small quiet place, e.g. a guesthouse with friendly peaople.
Best would be if we could stay there for 1 or 2 weeks just for snorkeling and have NO car, walk to the next restaurant, and read a good book under a palm tree.

Has anybody a good experience about this?

Thanks a lot and kind regards

Arnos Vale - without doubt IMO (re snorkelling).

No walking to restaurants though.

I think a car is necessary unless you stay somewhere like Crown Point, where unless I missed something the snorkelling as yoiu wish to experience it isn't there.

Charlottville, would fit the description, The snorkelling at Pirates Bay is good and that’s walking distance, there are a good number of small guest houses and restaurants to chose from.

Castara ... lots of guest houses and the Naturalist is right next to or on the beach depending which room you choose.

Increasing number of places to eat and a reef about 30 yards from main beach.

Marc is right about Arnos Vale, great reef ... but it is a hotel.
