Hi Lynn

Welcome aboard!

No, you're spot on with the forum. Amazing for someone from Manchester :P (I'm only joking of course. myTobago actually is housed on a webserver in Manchester, so in a sense that's where my business is based, even if I originate a little further east)

Yes, take your money and change it there - you'll get better rates than over here. There's a small commission, I believe, but not much.

The best rate I got before I left was by pre-ordering through travelex.co.uk and collecting at the airport (before you go through security). I paid with a First Direct debit card and they don't charge you a fee, and the money is all ready and waiting for you.

The pre-ordering rate is much better that the "turn up and buy".

When in Tobago, I went to the RBTT cashpoint in Crown Point. Took money out using my Barclays cash point card and got a very good rate of 11.5 TT$ last week.

Current rate on Travelex is 11.36 TT$.

The Tropikist (where I stayed my last 2 nights) charged 8 TT$ for Sterling. That is just a ludicrous and extortionate rate (30% LESS), and the US$ rate was also pretty crummy at 5.3 TT$. They price things in US$, then try charging you in TT. I paid for breakfast in USD's, and the beers in TT's. Confused the hell out of the girls on reception but there's no way I was going to be ripped off!
