A tip about tips

Post by Jorg Kilian »

It's just a tip about tips...
Don't hesitate to give tips in restaurants or hotels. My tip is to give tips especially if you stay in a hotel and if you are All Inclusive. A tip is something you give with joy. You don't have to give tips - especially if somebody should be rude to you. The minimum wage in Tobago is 8TT per hour (1.33US) and if you work in a hotel you hardly get higher wages - even working at the reception you hardly get much more.
If you work in a good restaurant you might get tips after most meals you serve. If you work in an All Inclusive Hotel you might get tips once before the guests leave. A waitress might get a tip, but not the kitchen. My tip is to give your tips straight to the person you have the tip for. If you tell one person to give your tip to another person, it might not reach. If you put your tip in a tip-box, it may end... well, I am not sure. But of course somebody has to empty the box. And if the manager tells you not to give any tips to the staffers... Well, I have to laugh by myself, also this is not a joke - but you don't have to believe everything somebody tells you. It is your free choice to give a tip to a nice person if you feel welcome and I am sure your tip is always welcome...

With a little tip you can do a good thing. You encourage the persons who work hard that they have a good job and that there is no need to fool tourists on the street or to look for white women or men on the beach. It is just a tip...
