2 weeks in Castara

Post by Imtiaz »

Have been meaning to write this since we came back to London over 2 weeks ago!
There are holidays and then there are holidays. There are holidays that you go to thinking, hmmm need a couple of weeks off and I will do nothing, recharge my batteries, get bronzed up and return back feeling good and there are holidays where you could go all out and do your tours, drive around like a maniac and do the cultural bit, cram in the beach and pool and come back more exhausted than when you left and THEN you have Castatra, Carpe Diem Villa, Castara village, the 2 beaches on your door step, the water like a bath, Bingi the Fruit King, Anna with a friendly Hi as you walk to the beach, in the bar opposite, Colin from Blue Moon cottages, grumpy as he he is friendly, Max in the corner shop by the beach, the fisherman's co-op, Alibaba, his son Macky (the dolphin) and Woody the dog, Mrs Vera sitting in her restaurant by the beach, the verandha that opens out on an incredible view every morning and a sunset so spectacular words cannot describe and then to top it all, Yvonne and Chris (Professor) the ones that made it all happen. THIS my friends is a holiday which has become more than a holiday, it is an obsession, with the beach, the water, snorkelling, diving, deserted beaches, incredulously colourful sunsets and the kind of hospitality that you should get from your hosts when you are away from home. Buy local, eat local, swim local, immerse yourself in the way of life that is CASTARA, TOBAGO, W.I. You have made me a Castata addict Yvonne and Chris need some more!
