Duty Free

Post by Joanne »

Hi

Just wondering whether (a) there is a duty free shop/facility at the airport in Tobago, and (b) are there any bargains to be had there (I'm guessing rum!)

2 weeks and counting!

Hi Joanne

There is a small duty free shop at the airport, but very limited range of stock. I can't comment on prices to be honest - hopefully someone else can advise.

I can't confirm the price of booze but the cigarettes were TT$ 840 for 200 - VERY cheap. (cheaper than local shops).

Hi Joanne !!

Yes, the duty-free is small and it is full of bargains. And you are guessing right:Rum, Cigarettes and no Caviar. Especially when you come from England you will find it very cheap. If you want to go for Rum you will have a better variety in tong, the most welcome bring along in Tobago is, please correct me if i am wrong, a bottle of whiskey.....

Hi Joanne

The rum in the duty free at Tobago is about TT$40 -50. But if you are going via POS the selection is better in the duty free shops there, even though the price is the same. We were advised by the girls at the duty free in Tobago to wait and buy our spirits in POS so customs wouldn't be a problem when we first arrived in POS.
