Diving experience 2004

Post by Toine & Lia »

We stayed in Tobago from the 28th of April till the 14th of May. During our stay we dived, like before in October 2003, with Sublime Scuba, based at Tropikist Hotel in Crown Point and departing with the boat from Mt. Irvine beach. (http://www.sublimescuba.com)

Again, we had a perfect agreement with Barry St. George, owner and instructor, on equipment, dive sites, departing times and prices. In the list of dive sites we visited where places like The Sisters, Brothers, St. Giles, and Flying reef. For those how know…..these are places that are a long way from Mt. Irvine.
Barry took us up there, sometimes without any other divers on board, and made it fun days with some fishing, liming and snorkelling.
Whether you’re a novice or experienced diver Barry and his crew will set you up at those sites that suit your level and wishes.

We stayed in Sherwood Park Apartments and met other divers who had a bad experience with their own dive operator. They changed operators during there stay and found it to be not that great. On the last days of their holiday they jointed us on board Barry’s boat and made two tank trips to the Sisters and the south side of the island. Afterwards they were so charmed by the way things were arranged and the diving that took place on board the Sublime Scuba boat. They told Barry they will be back in August and made already arrangements for a party of 12 people.

A part of the dive operators in Tobago are foreign owned. Barry St. George is one of the few locals, who are trying to be a successful entrepreneur and make a living in the diving business on the island. Although he’s a fun guy to be around, his head covered with dreads and always in the mood for a drink and a laugh, he also takes his diving operation and the maintenance of his boat very serious. Add to that his passion for sport fishing, for which purpose his boat can be equipped with top of the bill gear, and you will find a versatile local guy who is capable to service your diving and fishing trips.

We can assure you that we had a lovely holiday and for a great part of it, the credits for that are entirely going to Barry St. George.

Greets,
