New CHOICE 4* Hotel Coming to Roxborough (2025 or later)

Read this article today, regarding some private (no Government involvement this time, like the Sandals Fiasco) development in Roxborough, a relatively untouristed part of the island (other than it's fish market and gas station, this town is pretty quiet and very must only local residents, unless my experience is mistaken)

Developers of the Elephant Tree Beach Club and Villas are building 126 villas, a 40-room hotel, two restaurants, bars, a spa and a fitness centre at Roxborough, with the multi-million-dollar project to be completed by the end of 2025.

Garry Olsen, the managing partner of Elephant Tree Beach Club and Villas, spoke to the Express via Zoom from New York on Monday.

Olsen said the project is privately funded, with zero Tobago House of Assembly involvement and zero public funds.

“Our goal is to make it a four to five star resort on the island, which is dramatically lacking at this point. The project is 100% privately funded: we have no public money, no public help in any way, shape or form,” Olsen said.

In 2017, a Choice Hotels International “Ascend Collection” boutique brand was obtained as part of the Elephant Tree Beach Club & Villas Resort development.

American multinational Choice Hotels International, Inc is one of the largest hotel chains in the world. As of the third quarter of 2023, Choice Hotels had franchised nearly 7,500 hotels in 46 countries and territories.

Choice owns brands such as Radisson and Comfort Inn and Suites.

Upon completion, the Elephant Tree will be the largest employer in the hospitality industry on the island, its developer says."
