BWIA and Tobago Express

Post by Joanne Green »

Has anyone had any problems with their checked luggage getting left behind and shipped over on a later flight from Trinidad to Tobago? I know the this is a common occurance on American Eagle out of San Juan and also some LIAT flights.

Hi Joanne--
Well, our luggage didn't get left in Trinidad, but it did get left at JFK. We flew from Boise to JFK, and then onto Trinidad and then Tobago. We only had an hour between our connection in JFK and needless to say our luggage didn't quite make it to Trinidad. In fact we were in Tobago for 4 days before our luggage finally did arrive. It actually went to Jamaica before it made it to Tobago. Seems there was a lot of finger pointing going on between United Airlines and BWEE as to where the luggage actually got lost. Anywho...hopefully your luggage won't take any side trips. Luckily Tobago is so laid back and casual that wandering around in our newly purchased T-shirts and bathing suits wasn't too much a problem. We had to adopt the Tobago motto: no stress, no worries, no problems! :D My new found advice however is to carry all your necessities in a carry-on with you so you're not without contacts, etc while waiting for your luggage to arrive! :D

What I was referring to is the practice of some airlines that fly very small planes of leaving some checked luggage behind if they think that they're carrying too much weight!

It's not too much of a problem to go back to the airport later in the day to retrieve your luggage iff you're staying in the lowlands. We're going to Castara, which is an hour's drive, so it would be a real hardship.

Please, it anyone has had this happen to them, either going to Tobago from Trinidad or back again, please let me know.

Hi Joanne,
Never had a problem, been there twice with heavy luggage and once within weight, so you should be ok. If you have not visited Castara before I hope you love it as much as I do.
Enjoy
