Counterfiet bills

Post by Steve Pitts »

Be on the look out for counterfiet TT$100 notes, currently in circulation.

From The Tobago News -

A police sources say the bogus notes first surfaced in western Tobago and became known when 14 of the bills were among the bank deposit of a restaurant owner on Monday.

Police have advised the public to be on the lookout for the notes that carry the serial numbers DE107025, DF090831 and DH886805.

The main distinguishing feature of the bogus notes are the letters CBTT - Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, which are not visible on the outside of a genuine $100 bill.

The paper is lighter and of rougher material than the genuine one and the "bird" is clearly seen on the outside, while it is a watermark in the genuine bill that can only be seen when held up to the light.
