transports between airports and place for overnight

Post by Décio »

Hi all,

Finally I have our tickets to Tobago!
I also have a car reserve with yes-tourism and an apartment at Naturalist Beach Resort (in spite of some missunderstanding with Mr.Ancle, I hope everything get fine).

Now we have one other problem... it will be our first time at London also! We will arrive at London (Heathrow)at 19:00 st a Sunday and we will have the flight to Tobago next morning from Gatwick...
It seams that the distance between airports is quiet big, so could you please give me some information about the best way to do this transfer? By bus, by train or by Subway? How?

Than we would love to sleep right next the North Terminal at Gatwick airport, at walking distance. Does anyone have sugestions?

At the Outbound travel we won't have any chance to meet London, but we arranged the Inbound travel in way to get a full day at London... just to have a first impression... we will go back with more time!

Thank you all.
Best Regards,

Décio

Hi Decio

The very easiest way to travel between Heathrow and Gatwick airports is by coach with National Express. They run every 15 minutes or so and the cost is £34 return. You can check this out on their website
http://www.nationalexpress.com

Alternatively, you can take the underground from Heathrow to Victoria and then get on a mainline trian direct to Gatwick.

There are a number of hotels near and around Gatwick airport at varying costs. A fairly good value would be the Travel Lodge - have a look at their website
http://www.travelodge.co.uk

Hope it helps!

The easiest and quickest way from Heathrow to Gatwick is by bus. There are several buses an hour -- see http://www.nationalexpress.com/

I'm not sure you can walk anywhere from Gatwick, but there are several small hotels in Horley, only five minutes drive away, which have free transfers to and from the airport. I use the Corner House Hotel http://www.thecornerhouse.co.uk/ but there are other similar ones. Avoid the big hotels -- they're expensive and the transfers are infrequent and cost money.

Hilton is another place to stay. You can walk to departures from it See this link http://www.mytobago.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2123

One more simple question.
Do we must buy the tickets for National Express, at website?
Or would be better to do it at arrive?

The hotel is already chosen... I think I made a good deal...46£ for the room, with breakfast and transfer to airport at a cost of 2£ each person. At Gatwick Moat House! It seams OK, doesn't it?

Thank you again

Hi Decio,
You can defiantly get the bus ticket at the National Express ticket desk on the ground floor in terminal 1 (just along from the lifts that go to departures) I think there may also be a ticket desk in the main bus station at Heathrow but Im not sure)

Yes it looks like a good deal on the hotel, last time we stayed at the Meridian it was about £90 but the nice thing is you can just walk out of the hotel straight in to the BA departures.

Have a great holiday
Kevin
