Who to book with

Post by Robert O'dowd »

Hello,

My girlfriend and I are sold on Tobago after reading your website and have decided on staying in the LGC. We intend on travelling on the 3rd of September for 2 weeks. The primary difficulty we are having is in booking the trip. I would be grateful if someone could recommend a package trip or should I book flight and hotel seperate, based on your expiernce as most of you are frequent visitors. Which airline/agent is best etc.

Regards and thank you
Rob

Hi Robert

Welcome aboard!

I believe there are a number of tour operators offering packages to the LGC. Have a word with your local travel agents. You might also want to search online. Finally, contact the hotel and get a quotation. The cheapest flights are with Excel (see our Tobago/Getting There/Air Travel pages for more info).

Basically compare packages and make your choice. There's no such thing as a guaranteed package price at any time, so it all comes down to hunting the best deal down.

Have fun and come back to us with any further questions.

Definitely a package, if you're going to stay in a hotel. It will almost certainly work out cheaper, and you have a bit more protection if anything goes wrong.

We found Just Tobago (http://www.justtobago.co.uk) excellent. The agents all know the island, and they could give us advice and a personalised service. They were able to arrange the itinerary we wanted (one week at Coco Reef, one week at Blue Waters Inn), and asked for what they thought was the best room at BWI. Their prices were very competitive too.

Hayes & Jarvis seem to be the cheapest of the big-name brochures but they wouldn't even let us have one week at Coco Reef and arrange the accommodation for the second week ourselves. They said if we had two weeks flight, we had to book two weeks accommodation.

These comments are for departures from the UK, by the way.

Hi Robert

Le Grand Courlan http://www.justcaribbean.com/index.lass ... and=Tobago have it, with flights from the UK. Didn't find it on that other site!

They were very helpful and have been to all the resorts in Tobago, which always helps. If you are interested look at the web site before the end of this month as I think they have an early booking offer at Le Grand Courlan which ends soon, they did mention this to me. I am going to read the reviews on mytobago for Grafton Beach, which is next door and make my mind about which one to go to!

They said it was up to us what we wanted and could go to Le Grand or Grafton and then stay the second week at BWI, so lots of choice.
