Tobago Express

Before visiting Tobago I read T Heie's report on Tobago Express and agree with his message. On the 2nd June we had to wait 4 hours for our flight from Trinidad. We realised some thing was wrong when we got into the departure lounge at 18.30 and people were just boarding the 15.00 hrs flight which took off at 19.30 hrs. Speaking to other guests at the Inn on the Bay they all had similar experiences but not quite so long to wait. Delays were blamed on weather, maintenance, planes unable to fly from Tobago, etc. The staffs at Tobago Express seem to be in the dark as to what was happening. On our return to Trinidad on 12th June we were due to catch the 17.00hrs plane but when we got into the departure lounge it was full as the 16.00 hrs plane had got to the runway and had to return due to a malfunction. Our party we first on the next plane but this did not make us popular with the locals that were turned off the 16.00hrs plane as they felt we were pushing in. I recommend visiting Tobago but fly direct. Also if you are visiting Tobago with The Travel Collection and the have put you on a World Airways flight doesn’t be disappointed. The planes are a bit long in the tooth but the staffs are excellent, much better than the BWIA flight coming home.

Hi Paul,

I suspect that Tobago Express are still suffering from the loss of one plane in April due to an undercarriage collapse. This has apparently resulted in a wholesale review of all the aircraft on this service, and modifications to them which has meant that there is rarely the full complement of planes available (as I understand it). Perhaps Sharon has more information?

I'm glad you had a good flight home on World Airways - at least yours got futher than Antigua!
