Airports in Tobago

Post by Dianne O. »

OK, I know this is a silly question, but when searching for flights to Tobago, Scarborough came up as an airport that American Airlines flew into. I thought the only airport in Tobago was in Crown Point. Is there an airport also in Scarborough? Any assistance is much appreciated!

Hi Dianne

Don't worry, they're one and the same.

Thanks...do you know if American Airlines flies into Crown Point. I thought they flew only into Trinidad.

Hi Dianne

All the information we have is in our Air Travel section (Tobago/Getting There/Air Travel). According to that, AA only fly into POS. If you find out different, please let us know so that I can update our information.

Hi Dianne,

As of now, the US airlines (Continental & AA) haven't gotten landing rights on Tobago. The runway is big enough, but I think the whole thing is political. You can fly from JFK or Miami on BWIA directly into TAB, but their prices aren't very competitive. Just resign yourself to the fact that you'll have to overnite both coming & going on Trinidad. If you can, build an extra 2 days into your vacation. We stayed in a nice B&B called Leo's Place near the airport. DON'T stay at the airport hotel or the Airport View Guesthouse. Reports have been terrible. Email me if you want info on Leo's.

Thanks, Joanne. I think it was you (or maybe another forum member?) who told me about Leo's several weeks ago. I seriously thought about flying American into POS and staying at Leo's, however, once you add the cost of extra accommodation and the Tobago Express flight, etc. it's almost, not quite, the price of a BWIA ticket. I am thinking that it might just be worth the extra $100.00 to fly directly into Tobago. May still do it though...we'll see if American has a sale!
