""Re-building" of L. Anse Fourmi to Charlotte

Post by Patrick Chrimes »

I read earlier in the year that contractors were in the final stages of completing the restoration of the L. Anse Fourmi to Charlotteville north coast road. Does anyone know if it is currently driveable? I tried it 30 years ago on my first visit to Tobago from Charlotteville but gave up after five miles because it was blocked by a lorry erecting some sort of communication poles. I know it got completely derelict since then but I am visiting Tobago again for probably my twelfth & last time, sadly, next week. Would like to take a trip down memory lane if its likely to be a practical option.

if you go from lans fourmi it is good for a loooong distance. only the last bit gets tricky and most car remntals stricktly forbid you to pass there even with their jeeps. it is still a construction site and the bit in charlotteville and after that is quite washed out and a bit scary. know someone who passed there last week. if you want to try, check with you car rental company or book a guide who drives for you an his own risk.
enjoy your stay with or without the adventure!

Thanks so much for the helpful reply. Might go and check it out but not risk the wrath of rental co in trying to get through to Charlloteville but just retrace my steps when it gets to no go area.
