Newark, N.J., to POS

Post by Sharon Keeler »

Has anyone else from the USA taken the flight from Newark, N.J. to POS, arriving at 8:39 p.m. and made the last Tobago Express flight at 9:15 p.m? We're considering, but are trying to avoid overnighting in Trinidad.

Thank you,

Sharon

Hey Sharon--

We did almost the same thing, flying from DC. Others probably know more, but I wouldn't recommend trying to catch that last flight to Tobago--chances are you'll be late arriving at Piarco. Sad, I know.

We had great success overnighting near Piarco, and it was pretty cheap. The friendly folks at Yes! Tourism can help arrange something. I do believe there's a link here somewhere for Yes. They can also help you book advance tickets for the flight from Piarco to Crown Point.

I know this is a Tobago site, so I'll avoid going into too much detail here. I think Steve Wooler might have added a thread about just this topic somewhere.

Hi Sharon

Welcome aboard!

Yes, Troy, I've added some details of what appears to be the most popular overnight accommodation in our Air Travel section (Tobago/Getting There/Air Travel).

Sharon--
Don't even think about trying to get the 9:15 flight to Tobago!! You have to clear customs & it just can't be done in 1/2hr. Contact YES TOURISM, give them your credit card number & they'll purchase your ticket and only charge a small fee. As to accommodations, stay with Leo Bridglal at Leo's Place. He'll pick you up for a small fee & return you the next morning for your flight to Crown Point. He and his wife, Cadalia, are lovely people & their place is very clean. He'll charge about US$50 for a twin room with A/C & pvt. bath & breakfast. If you want, on your return, you can arrange for him to take you to the nearby Trincity Mall for dinner (Leo's is in a residential area -- no restaurants), & then return later. His email is: [email protected]. Or better yet, use one of the low-cost internation phone systems, such as 10-10-9-8-7 & call him. You'll have to pay cash, either US or TT. If you have further questions, feel free to email me directly.
