Fishing reels in hand luggage

Post by Neil Roberts »

Does anyone have any idea as to whether a firm ruling exists on the carrying of fishing reels in hand luggage? I am always a little dubious of letting them out of my sight due to their value. If anyone has any experience one way or the other, or comments as to how they deal with the problem, I would be most grateful.

Kind regards,

Neil Roberts.

Neil,I recall a couple of years ago a to-do at the x-ray concerning fishing reels.The guy had to hand them over,whether they went on the aircraft or not I wouldn'y know.This was at Gatwick.

Dear David,
Thanks for your note; I too have heard about such problems, hence my question. What concerned me was hearing that a local acquaintance lost two good reels from his hold baggage on his way to Barbados.

Hope you're enjoying your trip, kind regards;

Neil Roberts.
