Money in Charlotteville

Post by Mcculloch »

Hi! We (my husband, 3 teenagers and myself) are spending a couple of days in Crown Point and then heading up to Charlotteville for a couple of weeks. I am just wondering how we pay for things. I understand there are no banks and only a rather unreliable ATM in Charlotteville. Does this mean we have to take wads of cash? Our accommodation is already paid for, and I don't anticipate food and drinks being too expensive. But if we go on excursions (eg fishing trips, kayaking, rainforest tours etc) are we able to pay for these by credit card, or do we have to take cash with us for these too? Many thanks. Look forward to hearing from all you old Tobago hands.

Welcome aboard!

I believe the ATM in Charlotteville was somewhat unreliable when it was first installed, but I haven't heard any reports in a while and hopefully things have settled down by now.

Sharon & Phebe's Restaurant in Charlotteville accept cards, so no problem there. I'm not sure about Gail's or Jayne's. Pretty much all the reputable tour operators also accept cards. So, hopefully you won't find the problem as great as you might think.

Hi,
If you go sea kayaking with Clark in Charlotteville (we had a great time doing this), then he accepts plastic or at least he did a couple of years ago. You could always email him and find out. Have fun!
