Odd question

I hope that this isn't considered a morbid question, but I read that the guy who lived in a cave at Arnos Vale passed away recently.

I spoke to him several years ago on our first visit and found him to be a very peaceable man. He had lived in the cave for over 20 years and was somewhat of a hermit, although he could often be seen on the local beaches selling his tied and dyed sarrongs.

Does anyone know if this is the same guy in this photo?

Hello Steve,

I don't know if this man is the man that lived in the cave, but up until a week or so ago (8th April to be precise) the man in the photo was still on Pigeon Point beach selling his sarrongs. I also have a photo.

I think the chap from Arnos Vale died around a month ago, according to reports in the Tobago News.

I was at Arnos Vale beach last weekend for some snorkeling, but did not see the man you speak of, nor did I hear anything about him.

Hi, never havng been to Tobago (yet) can't really comment. but did see the posting. It would appear that this man had lived for a number of years in a cave and was well known in the area, Hopefully he is still alive and kicking,

I read in the Tobago News,that he had indeed died and was beleived to have been dead about a month before he was found.

Having returned from Tobago this morning, I can answer your question. The gentleman who sadly died was known as "Shieva" or "Swammy", an indian gentleman who worked with Henry the leather man on Turtle Beach. He was a lovely person and Henry said that it would have been his wish to have died that way, being no trouble to anyone as he was a very private person.
