I have been worried because we have stayed at the Rex Turtle Beach a couple of times and have gone on boat trips and fished with 'Stumpy the Tuna Man'. However, I have just telephoned a friend in Tobago and he assures me that Stumpy the Tuna Man is fine. I was told that the man, who I think Dave must be talking about, is also called Stumpy but is the owner of a hardware shop (which I think is near to Canaan, on the way to Pigeon Point). Anyway I very much hope the 'Stumpy' who has suffered this attack is now recovering.

You're spot on, Caron.
Everyone here is referring to 'Stumpy the Tuna Man' who plies his boat trips from Turtle Beach. The Stumpy that was attacked is the owner of a general hardware store in Canaan - yes, you pass it on the right on your way from the airport.

I´d also read about it in the Tobago News, seems to be many known as Stumpy. The Stumpy I know is a owner of a local bar in Bon Accord /Canaan "the green house", also selling vegetables during day time.
I believe this is local criminals on drugs or "immigrated" criminals from Trinidad, using the fact that during weddings peoples has a good amount of money, cameras, gold and so on with them.
But, because what´s happend really will make local Tobagonians angry, I don´t think they can hide very long.
If someone want to read what´s happend, here´s the link.

Hi Paul
I must confess that I know what you mean. I shot in there one day after losing the tape measure I use while reviewing accommodation. Apart from some very bulky cheapo tapes, they had just one compact 3m Stanley unit. I said I'd take it, but express a little concern because the bubble-wrap package had obviously been opened and sellotaped back. I was assured that it had only been opened so that somebody could have a look at the tape. When I got back to the hotel and opened the package, the whole thing fell apart - the back fell off and the tape and rewind spring fell out. I couldn't even get it back together. So, less than 30 minutes after buying it, I was back at Stumpy's. They refused to give me a refund claiming that I must have damaged it while opening the package. I kicked up a fuss and they eventually gave me one of the cheapo tapes, but I had to forfeit the difference in price. It wasn't worth arguing, but I just swore not to go back. The worst thing was the seriously bad attitude of the staff.
