Weather forecast for the next 2 weeks

Post by Wendy V K »

Hi there,

I'll be leaving for Tobago (first time) this Monday.
Now I know it's the raining season but I see so many different weather reports that I'm going slightly crazy here....Did I just book 2 weeks on a great Island with just rain ??

I hope not...otherwise I could have just stayed at home :? (The Netherlands)

Can anybody help me out with the correct forecast (hopefully that will say at least some sunshine..and not the liquid version ;) )

Hi Wendy

Welcome aboard!

Fear not! The forecasts are always a bit deceptive. During the rainy season you will get more showers, but they are normally short and sharp. Then you have lots of sun. Study the reports of all the visitors coming back during the last few months - I don't remember anyone complaining about the weather. A few of them mentioned the showers but said they were "no big deal". The trouble is that the forecast HAS to say "Showers" or even up to "Thunderstorms". It might only be two or three short burst during the day, but the forecast has to show that if that is the forecast. So, they can paint a very gloomy picture when the truth is quite different.

Don't worry - you'll have a great holiday and come back with a tan deep enough to turn eveyone jealous.

Hi steve, thanks for your reply.

The forecasts almost made us (me and boyfriend) decide not to go since we only have 2 weeks holiday this year and we don't want to spend them in the rain.

You are right that there were not posts from people "complaining" about the weather....so yesterday we just decided to go and see what happens...

Tobago looks great and the reports I've read about the Seashell are all positive so I hope it will be a great vacation.

Ohw for me it's not about a great tan.... don't tan anyway....usually just get sun allergy
I just want to be able to travel around the island a bit....cycle a bit and do some diving or just relaxing at the bungalow.....which will all be nicer if it's not raining all the time ;)

Like said before...it's are only holiday and a really needed holiday....and since we're dutch we want to avoid rain ;)

Hi Wendy,

As Paul says - don't worry about it raining all the time - It won't!

Just remember that Tobago is a wonderful, green island - with a rainforest. So there has to be some rain to keep it like that. And - as the locals say - it isn't rain, it's liquid sunshine!

 I don't mind a bit of rain.....and I love it that it's green....and if you visit the rainforrest you should have some rain...otherwise it would just be forrest right ;)

I've been to Costa Rica a few years back and got soaked while being in the rainforrest....So I know what to expect ;)

It's just that I hope that we won't have 2 weeks of rain since travelling all that way and having the same weather as in the Netherlands would be a shame....

In the netherlands we don't call it liquid sunshine...we just call it Dutch weather :D

But you are so right when you say that rain over there is completely different

Where are you staying in Tobago? We're flying out next Saturday and will be in Castara for two weeks. If you spot an Englishwoman with a Northern Irish man hanging around Little Bay or Codringtons, that might be us, so say hello and we can share a few Caribs.

Actually, if you want to see what we look like, there's a photo of us stuffed with lobster, on the photo pages of Sandcastles Accommodation page.

Hi Wendy,

don't worry about rain. Even if it will rain its not longer than an hour and the rain is WARM! (not like in Netherlands or Germany) Like Jane wrote "liquid sunshine". Just a little cool down and swiming in the rain is amazing. :D

I've been there in September last year and some other years ago and never had a reason to cmplain about the weather.

Have a nice time and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself a lot!

Cheers

Gisela

PS: Jo, keep a Carib (or a sixpack) cold for me I'm coming September 27th :D :D :D

Rest assured, those Caribs will be waiting for you, well chilled, for when you arrive.

Just heard that Coddy's on his hols again, so it will probably be Skipper holding the fort once again.

Be there in week + few hours - can't wait!

Where are you staying in Castara? We'll be in Young's House, right on the road behind Little Bay, just up from The Boathouse and The Beach House.

Look out for us lazing around on the balcony, or snorkelling in Little Bay or liming at Codrington's or eating anywhere in the village.

Sure we'll meet you at some point for the odd Carib!

Hi Jo,

we're staying at the Seabreeze, so at the same end of the village (I think). Can't wait to get there - unfortunately still 3 days of work to go!

Yes, you'll be just down the road from us. Got 3 more days of work too, but I seem to be getting distracted by last minute arrangements for the holiday.

See you in Castara!

Hope you all meet up and have a great time.

Hi all,

hey Gill may I also make you envious? Im going on the 28th (jo, sorry, I will be one day later but we will still have time for some Caribs)

Couldn't reach the Lady from my guesthouse yet but there are still some days left. Maybe I will end up at the Seabreeze also?
