Has anyone been to a new bar called D'Alternative? Read about it online and wanted to see what it was like before our March visit.

Also, I've read several negative reports about The Shade. Has anyone been there who can report on what it is like?

Thanks,
Sharon

Hello Sharon

I've never heard of D'Alternative myself. What/where did you read about it?

The Shade is VERY bad news and only the most foolhardy visitors will risk going there after 9pm. One murder, a couple of stabbings and constant muggings and pick-pocket robberies are order of the day - and, worse, you might well be followed back to your accommodation by those intent on no good. Male and female prostitutes, bag-snatchers, pick-pockets, drug dealers (who double their take by tipping-off the plain-clothes drugs police) - are all drawn to The Shade, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, all in all it's a lovely advertisiment for Tobago.

Yes, that's the good side - you know exactly where every criminal and low-life is likely to be.

D'Alternative is on the Shirvan road not far from the junction with the highway - it was formerly a club known as Lush (and before that The Starting Gate). It's under different management now, and much quieter, I understand... although i have to confess I haven't been there yet

Hi all together,

I don't know the D'Alternative but heard a lot bad things about the Shade. When I thought of going there my local friends told me, that they would never eber take me there because it is to dangerous.
Well there are enough other places to go

Enjoy

Cheers
