Late Nite Parlour, Parlatuvier
Hi Folks
We have passed through Parlatuvier frequently during the last five weeks, both during the day and at night. A small village bar – the ‘Late Nite Parlour’ – has constantly intrigued us.
This small establishment, consisting of an open area beneath a tin roof, can be found on a sharp bend, about half-way through the village. The name is hand-painted on a large board beside the road. You can’t miss it.
We have been keenly following this establishment’s progress. We were disappointed to find that patronage in February seldom exceeded one man and a dog. We assume one is the proprietor/manager/barman. Maybe they introduced a special offer, because patronage doubled in March. In fact one evening last week Jill claims that she saw three people in the bar. But no dog. I’m not totally convinced that I believe her. I am naturally concerned for dog. Fortunately, they don’t serve food.
I assume that Tobago has no Trades Descriptions Act so the establishment probably has no fear of being prosecuted over the possibly misleading name. The latest we have seen the bar open is 8:30pm. But local rumour has it that they were once seen open at 9pm.
Exhaustive research is the lifeblood of this site and we strive hard to maintain the accuracy of the information published here. May I therefore call upon our readership to keep us appraised of progress at this exciting establishment should they be touring the northern coast.
In fact, let’s make it interesting – the person who produces photographic evidence of the highest patronage at this establishment before the end of 2007 will win a free myTobago cap.

Wednesday (7th March) evening at approximately 1800 ... 1 man and a dog were seen at the premises which appeared to be closed.
Thursday (8th) morning at 0900 (!?!) the premises appeared to be open and 3 men and 2 dogs were seen on the premises.
Thursday afternoon at around 1530 the premises were closed and just one dog was seen.
This morning (10th) at approximately 0700 the premises were closed and 2 dogs were in attendance.
Later at 1115 the premises were still closed and there was a brown Goat in attendance.
Time are local and hope I have been of assistance in the monitoring of this establishment.
Will provide photographic evidence on my next visit.
Keep you posted.
Regards

Competition
Sounds like this particular competition is hotting up.......
I'm visiting again in three weeks time so I'll see if it's a full house for the Easter festivities...... the goat will probably be racing at Buccoo.... so maybe only the two dogs will be left.
Paul, I'll leave you to set the target to beat.
Regards,
Bob.

guess locals can't compete?
I know the owner and I also know that you guys all go to bed toooooo early... thats your problem folks.
tha sign says LATE night parlour, they just start off late and sometimes lime all night there.
buffallo (the owner) is a quite busy before that... but when he feels it is late enough he goes and opens up the parlour...
forget it, even if locals could join the competition, I could not win, am in bed too early too...
STEPH
PS: minimum one of the dog belong to buffallo, guess that is the most attending one! how late are dog under 18 allowed to lime anyway?

Seeing Gill's post reminded me that I hadn't replied to Steph's.
Sorry, Steph - no deal!!!! Anyway, I hate to argue but remember I stayed at Gloucester Place for 5 days - immediately across the ravine. We were staring out at Late Night Parlor all the time. I can tell you that they were ALWAYS closed before we went to bed (and we were never late).
By the way visitors, you might have fun taking photo evidence for the competition. I stood on the road next to Late Night Parlor taking a photo of Gloucester Place across the little valley and somebody from the Parlor shouted out that I had to pay. Don't know whether it was the owner or not, but given that neither Late Nite Parlor or any of their customers were in the shot, it was a serious case of bad attitude!!!!!
