Internet Radio

Post by Caroline Brookes »

I have found on internet radio under Trinidad and Tobago the following radio stations: Rhythm City, Masala 101, Masala Radio 101, and WEFM. Can anyone tell me if Tobago has its own specific internet radio station please :?:

David,

To tell everyone how long you have till you go on holiday - you could add a 'Ticker' to your signature. Hopefully this works and Hopefully, Mr W is ok with it ..... but go to http://www.tickerfactory.com and select 'Vacation/Travel' and follow the instructions.

It will automatically change to show how long you have left to go.

Jill,

Isn't it bad enough that David is constantly telling us how long he has to wait, let alone furnish us with graphics :P

http://www.soca919.com/ This is Iwer's station. All the new and old music (and his station isn't biased regarding which artists get play like many of the others), talk radio (listen to Warrior Queen in the morning, she's extremely funny), local politics, gossip..everything.

Hey!
I've just been listening to Radio Tambrin whilst doing the ironing. It certainly brings back memories of our holiday, when we would play it in the car ( and thought it was called TAMARIND!)I just wish I could understand more than one word in five! The most I can understand are the ads and the political broadcasts for the forthcoming election!
Cheers

Tambrin comes from the word "tambourine" rather than "tamarind". The music is indigenous to Tobago via Africa and is played using a fiddle and tambourine. It is played at many local functions especially during the Heritage Festival. Look for a CD called Dance! Brother Willie by the group Royal Sweet Fingers Tambrin Band. Probably hard to find.

Sorry Hugh,I hate to contradict you.The tambrin is based on the tamborine, however the tambourine was introduced to Tobago by Christian missionaries (SA),the then slaves were forbidden to use their drums but used the concept of the tamborine to make there own version, which was originally made from wild casava vine and animal skin.

Very interesting! Thanks for that David. I feel that adds to rather than contradicts. 8)
