Having endured very rainy conditions earlier in the first week of December further south on the island, we arrived at Gloucester Place near Parlatuvier on the pretty and very unspoilt Leeward coast of the island. We were greeted not only by welcome sunshine but by the wonderful warmth from the proprietors Bea & Win Sargent. Bea & Win run this beautifully situated property(both the main villa Gloucester Place and the separate Essex Cottage are delightfully appointed)in a very relaxed and friendly way. Amazingly, they also fit in extra-curricular teaching in the villa for the local schoolchildren who benefit greatly from Bea & Win's lifelong teaching experience. This has been gained whilst they globetrotted the world, teaching in such diverse places as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Venezuala, India, Sri Lanka and a number of other far-flung and multi-cultural outposts.

Bea was kind enough to rustle us up delicious evening meals on several occasions as well daily breakfasts to die for! We were very comfortable in our a/c-equipped bedroom complete with personal sun terrace - complete with fantasic views overlooking the ever-blue Caribbean Sea and in the ground were several small waterfalls which led down to the pretty and tranquil Parlatuvier beach.

The setting was an ideal hub from which to explore the surrounding quiet beaches of the historic Englisman's Bay and Bloody Bayand - as well as the vibrant tropical rainforest nearby. Our only regret is that we weren't able to spend more than 3 days there - but we certainly expect to come back here for more R & R, to catch up with Bea & Win's news and to experience once more examples at close hand of their selfless dedication to aiding the vital education of the local schoolchildren - bravo to Bea & Win!
