The Beach House is more than we could have possibly hoped for. As soon as we arrived in Tobago we were greeted by a very smiley and relaxed man called Porridge who took us to the Beach House via a supermarket for food provisions. Porridge gave us a great tour of the island from the airport to Castara and the closer we got to Castara the more spectacular the scenery.

The approach is dramatic as you turn a corner and see the small fishing village nestled in the lush tropical fauna. As soon as we arrived at the Beach House we were overwhelmed by the view and location, being only a couple of steps from the beach. Surrounded by birds and fireflies we truly felt we had found paradise.

For us this was the perfect holiday. We don't enjoy resort style holidays and so staying in Castara was just what we wanted. We bought veg from the local food stores, fish straight from the fisherman, freshly baked bread twice a week from the traditional village kiln and drank at the local bars. Although basic the apartments downstairs had everything we could have wanted. If you would like an even more spectacular view (if at all possible!) with more space and a bit more luxury then the apartment upstairs may be more suitable for you.

We were fortunate that Graham and Carole, the owners, were staying upstairs when we were out in Tobago and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Porridge was also very helpful, we hired a jeep from him to explore the island and went on his brilliant snorkeling and Beach BBQ trip which we strongly recommend. In Graham, Carole and Porridge we made great friends which made it even harder for us to leave after two weeks. For us Castara has become very special, we got engaged there in Little Bay and plan to return to the Beach House for our Honeymoon. It was a very easy decision for us to make.
