Archaeological & Historical Tours

Post by Steve Wooler »

As most readers will be aware, Tobago has a hugely rich and varied historical background, having been colonised by various European countries including the Dutch, English and French and having changed hands some 31 times between the late 1500s and 1800s.

Most local guides have a smattering of historical knowledge but few would profess to expert (or even historically accurate) knowledge. It therefore comes with great interest to find that an amateur digger of many years experience is now offering archaeological and historical tours of the island.

Patricia Lewis may be known to many readers. She has lived on Tobago for over 25 years and owns one of the boutiques outside the Grafton Beach Resort. Pat starting digging as a young child back at her home in Northern Ontario. She has continued her interest and explorations throughout her time in Tobago and worked alongside various experts.

Pat is now offering small custom tours. If you are interested in finding out more about Tobago’s rich past, I strongly recommend giving her call. Contact details can be found on our Tour Guides page at http://www.myTobago.info/guides.php (menu: Out & About > Tour Guides).
