rooms at Coco Reef

Post by Liz M »

Firstly I like to thank you for this website which has given me lots of useful information for booking our first holiday in Tobago. We are going to stay at the Coco Reef in November.

After looking at numerous brochures, lots of websites, we have what we feel is a good deal. Having saved some money by booking an Excel flight, we have decided to upgrade to a sea-view one bedroom suite at Coco Reef. My question is: we would particularly like a good sea view and a quiet room, and I wonder if anyone knows particular room numbers either to request or avoid. Also, how do the different room categories compare with each other.

Having lived in Antigua many years ago, where I saw two tarantulas in a year, I'm wondering about the likelihood of there being spiders and snakes actually in the hotel. Not that I'm scared of them, of course!!......

Hi Liz

Thanks for your kind words about the site. Glad it’s been of use.

I’m not sure whether they’re one or two-bedroom suites, but room 224 and 225 would possibly be my favourites. They’re at the end of the one of the wings and look directly over the main beach. Wonderful, but I admit that I’ve never stayed in them or even seen in them. I just like the location.

As far as I know, the only difference is the size of rooms. Sea-views rooms have just that and, as far as I know, they all have GOOD sea views (not when standing on top of the wardrobe, as in Fawlty Towers).

Wherever there is lush vegetation you are going to get creepie crawlies, but fear not – I’ve never seen any in the Coco Reef or other good hotels. Tobago has NO native poisonous snakes and I would be most surprised to hear of tarantulas in Crown Point. You might want to have a look at our article on the subject.

Thanks, Steve, for your advice.

I'm wondering if you have had any feedback yet about the Excel flights? Do you know if passengers are allowed off the plane during the touch down in St. Kitts?

Sorry for the delay, Liz, but I've been a bit tied up (as the Bishop said to the Actress).

I'm afraid I have had no passenger reports about the early Excel flights. I understood that the inaugral flight went well and to schedule. No doubt it won't be long before a returning visitor posts some comment.

You will be delighted to hear that you DO NOT disembark in St Kitts. It is only a brief drop-off/pick-up. However, ALL passengers disembark in Tobago, where the aircraft is cleaned and restocked prior to the long direct flight home overnight.

Rooms at Coco Reef

Hi Liz,
We have just returned from our first visit to Tobago and Coco Reef.

When I have some more time, i will post a review on the holiday.

We booked a ocean view suite. Stayed in Room 253 on the second floor overlooking the beach and looking towards Pigeon point. Rooms looking towards Store bay appeared to be the quiter.

Our holiday clashed with Half term, so the hotel was busy and noisey.

We flew BA via Antigua. We were not allowed off the aircraft.

Dear Pat,

Many thanks for your response. I'll look forward to seeing your review - hope you can do it before 29th, when we go!

It sounds as though you were a bit disappointed???

How was the weather?

Hi Liz,

My husband posted our review yesterday.

I really think we were unluck with our choice of dates. I had read all the reviews before we left and they were all good.

How unlucky can you get - a stag weekend the weekend we arrive. The second week half term! Some of the kids were bad, even a guy we met staying there with his own 3 children complained about how some of the kids behaved.

A group of 4 who seem to come alive around 6.00pm on the beach singing and swearing,(our room overlooked the beach).

Weather was good, did get rain most days but you could see it coming and it did not last long.

If your return flight is in the evening like ours, we put our names on the late check out list as soon as we arrived. On the day of departure take you luggage to the airport and check-in. BA desk opened at 3.00pm buy you exit visa. Then you can spend the rest of the time back at the hotel have a shower and go back to the airport just before your flight leaves. Most of the people on our flight seem to do this.

Enjoy your holiday, let me know how it goes as I want to be proved wrong. That will give me reason to return. I loved Tobago.

Dear Pat,

Just read your post and the review of Coco Reef. Sounds like you were unlucky, but glad that you loved the Island. We're obviously hoping for the peace and quiet, but will be prepared, at least, for noisy Friday and Saturday nights!

Only three days to go! Will let you know when we get back our own experience of Coco Reef and Tobago generally.

Thanks for the info.

Liz
