Tobago/Grenada/Monarch/kids

Post by Kristien »

We plan to buy tickets on the Monarch flight to Tobago in November. If possible, we want to get off the plane in Grenada and spend one week in Grenada before flying to Tobago (on our own). I mailed Monarch/Golden Carribbean several times to get information if this is possible or not, but up until now no reply. Shall I buy the tickets anyway? Can I check in until Grenada in Gatwick, even if we have tickets until Tobago? We have hold luggage.
We are travelling with our twins of 5 years old. If we pay for pre-booked seats, will we get a seat together or at least two-two? Any tips for travelling with kids on Monarch flights are welcome. We plan to fly economy. We are not familiar with charterflights from London. Thanks!

Hello Kristien

Welcome aboard! :)

We had a similar question/discussion in the forum a few months ago, I believe. Basically you must arrange it with the airline beforehand. You say you emailed Monarch/Golden Caribbean but have had no reply. Are you saying you've emailed BOTH of them. They are different companies. I am not really surprised that Monarch hasn't answered - the service is a charter flight, I believe, not a scheduled flight and most of their staff will hardly know it exists. My advise would be to contact Golden Caribbean direct as they are the main organisers/sellers of the service.

Hello Steve,

I have just booked our tickets for the Monarch flight! At 1740 ponds for the 4 of us, I think I got a good deal (Gatwick-Grenada and return flight from Tobago). As I didn't get any reply on my e-mails, I finally phoned Golden Caribbean. Very good contact, no waiting on the phone, polite and patiently, just perfect! I really got a good feeling about it. Now we have to look for tickets to get to Gatwick from Brussels. I think we will take the Eurostar and then a train from King's Cross to the airport (only one late direct flight to Gatwick from Brussels every day, and quite expensive!, so flying is not really an option). Is it advisable/cheaper to book the tickets from KC to the airport online or can we just show up and buy our tickets at the railway station? We are not familiar with the railway system in UK, so some advise is much appreciated.
Thank you so much for this website. It is really a good source of information!
We are very exciting about our first holiday to Tobago!

Hi Kristien,

I think it could be worth the time in booking the train in advance. Rather than going from Kings Cross,
you can go from St Pancras (The two stations are on the same site)

The sites I normally use for booking tickets are:

http://www.qjump.co.uk
http://www.thetrainline.com/

I'm not sure whether you could buy then cheaper using your own local rail service or similar sites.

I hope you have a great time. I'll be there in 5 weeks and 1 days time. Not that I'm counting...
May life give you what you need, rather than what you want....
