Hi, I have been a regular visitor of this fabulous site for some months in preparation of my holiday in tobago. Unfortunately the evening before my flight I was called by my travel agent to be advised that Grafton and Le grand courlan had been experiencing a virul illness which had left approx 50% of the guests unwell. The authorities had been called in to take various tests, but that I could still go and take my chances. Needless to say I was very concerned and called lgc to check the info, they confirmed that this was the case althoug they believed the problem was all over the island and that it was probably a type of flu virus, but that the auths had taken water/food/sea water and pool water to test. As the results were going to take about 5 days to come back from trinidad I opted to get off my flight in Grenada, so never did go to the beautiful island of Tobago. As my flight came home vai tobago I was able to talk with travellers who had been there and it seems that the ones on my flight had been affected for a day or two, but they thought that the problem was dying out. Sorry I cant give my promised reports to Steve (or Kim who asked me to check out the wedding situation.) I did meet with some people in grenada who had been to le grand courlan last year and were now at le source(where I re-scheduled my holiday) an was told that it was wonderful. I hope to try it early next year. I just felt it prudent to delay my visit to the island as nobody wants to go out to the caribbean to end up too ill to enjoy.

Hi, Having thoroughly researched tobago in preparation for my 16nov holiday I was very dissapointed to have had a call from my travel agent to warn me of a mystery illness that had broken out at grafton beach and spread to lgc. Apparentely this was affecting 50% of guests in the resorts and after verifying the info ( I recived this on 15nov evening-travelling 16nov am) with the hotel and hearing that trinidad health authority had taken various samples but were unsure of the cause, I opted to get off the flight in grenada and stay there. Having said that on my return via tobago the passengers boarding the plane had no problems and so the virus may have died out itself. I just didnt want to risk flying so far just to end up being sick and wishing I was home. I did meet people at the hotel in grenada (fabulous place) who had stayed at lgc last year and said that both hotels would be on a par so with this in mind I will be going to the island in March. Tobago is by all acounts prettier than grenada, and grenada was gorgeous so I will definately be travelling to tobago next year. As far as mosquitos go, I tried all typres of repellents and vitamins, and the hotel I stayed in even tried large doses of chemicals in a proceedure called "fogging", but to no great effect. I think that half of the products actually season us and make the mosquitoes hungrey! (joke). Thanks again steve for fab site, sorry I cant give promised report on le grand courlan , and sorry too to kim as never got to check out wedding situation for you. Kind Regards, Lesley. (ps. monarch had empty seats on premium economy but wouldnt sell them to me at airport).
