Heathrow to Gatwick & airport hotel

Post by MandyG »

Hello everyone,

It's just 7 weeks until we head to Tobago, and we're VERY excited :D

I am just planning getting to London, an overnight airport hotel etc, and wanted a bit of advice. I got a really good deal on flights, so will be getting into London Heathrow, but then obviously need to get to Gatwick for our flight the next morning.

I'm a bit confused about what's the easiest and cheapest way to do this, so any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Finally, if any of you have a good hotel recommendation (or B&B - again, good but cheap, with restaurant/s nearby, and with a short bus connection to the airport, that would be great!

Many thanks in advance,

Mandy

Hi Mandy

If you arrive to Heathrow Terminal, you will have to got to Gatwick same day as mostly, and I guess your too, flights does leave in the morning. You will have to stay over the night somewhere close to Gatwick. I don't know how many you are or what type of accomondations you are custom with, but I always use a small place nearby as it is always one night.

They have a pick-service, as mostly in the Gatwick area have. At the Puick-Area at Gatwich you will find a free telephone where you can call to get a pick-up.

The name is the Corner House Hotel at 72 Massetts Road in Horley, it's a small famiy place, a very friendly place, not so far from Gatwick, never mind if its South or North Terminal you will use. They have, of course, an own website.

Try comparing hotel prices at these websites

http://www.airportparkinggatwick.com/index.html

http://www.parking4less.co.uk

I know they say parking - but they also do hotel deals!

Also the following

Hope this helps

Hello Mandy.
I also use the B&Bs in Horley the night before flying to Tobago. There are many to choose from in Massets road as mentioned by Ronald.I have stayed at Springwood and The Turret on several occasions. They are basic but inexpensive bed and breakfast accomodation. The airport terminals are only a ten minute taxi ride away and they offer free transfer service during certain times of the day.Just a short walk from any of them is a very old and quaint pub(Ye Olde Six Bells ) that does great food.It is easy to find, only a short stroll through the church yard :!:.
If you google B/B /Horley you should find these and more.I have found that it is worth phoning around them to get the best price to suit your needs.
I hope that you find this info usefull and that you have a wonderfull holiday.
Gill :D

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies. We finally booked our accommodation and are staying in Castle Lodge, Horley as suggested. Thanks for all the advice - the ones suggested above were booked, but Castle Lodge looks nice, so fingers crossed!

Four weeks today - excited!

Hi a good place to stay is the Premier Inn at Gatwick. If you are going out of the North Terminal it is only 300 meters. They also do a pretty good "meal deal" 3 course evening meal including drink plus breakfast (as much as you like). We wre there last November couldnt fault it. Its worth looking at their web site.
Cheers John

I must say I like these three options rather much: Alexander house, Stanhill Court and Trumbles. The first can hardly be called a budget option, rather it is a honeymoon stopover one. The other two are really affordable and I found the afternoon tea, dinner bed and breakfast option of Stanhill Court to be extremely affordable. Alexander House is rather modern in style, albeit the building is old, and has a wonderful spa. Stanhill court is "Old Country house" with chintzes and fourposters, dresscode for dinner and dust. Trumbles is simply a very good, cozy B&B.
