Travelling with a baby of 9 months old.

Post by Benita »

Hi can anyone supply me with suitable information on travelling to Tobago with a baby. I need to know about nappies and costs of them plus the ranges of foods availiable to this age group. Also if anyone has stayed at the Rex Turtle Beach hotel with their children I would be glad to hear your opinions and experiences. Thank you Benita.

Hi Benita

Our 5 month old was born here and my wife - in charge of nappy/feeding affairs although I have been forced to assist - reckons that locally made pampers-style nappies are roughly similar in price to UK major brands - and just as effective. They are certainly readily available everywhere so I wouldn't pack too many.

Food is another matter. She told me just yesterday that there were only about four flavours of baby food available in the supermarkets. We prepare our own now, using fresh fruit and veg which we cook and blend down to mush - although your baby is older and will be able to eat non-spicy adult meals mushed down I imagine?

I hear that the Rex is child-friendly and am sure the kitchen will assist by blending anything you ask of them, or warming pre-prepared baby food for you. Do not worry and enjoy your trip - plenty of babies are born/survive here quite happily!
